You awaken in a war-torn world where wicked men in high thrones attack other nations to gain power, and the little people below struggle to survive. It seems like every week, another cult is on the rise and another hero is falling.
Wait, are we starting a new campaign, or are we talking about real life?
No matter where you live or where you stand, it seems like life has been crazy lately.
Luckily, there are bits of hope shining through the chaos.
We’ve already donated to it ourselves, and we wanted to draw attention to it for all the other heroes out there. Whether you’re level 1 or level 20, anything you can donate is appreciated.
David has been working on art for Infinite Stories, a new platform for both DMs and players to organize and create campaign information. It’s powered by AI in that it uses machine learning to gather, organize, recommend, and reshape the information, but it stands strongly against AI-generated creative work. In addition to its lore-keeping functions, it also comes with its own setting, Soliton, available for use, and provides the opportunity for any creator to add their own products and get paid for them as members use them in their own games. Everything on Infinite Stories is created by human artists, Infinite Stories is currently in pre-launch. If you want to check it out, head to www.infinitestories.com.
David is now taking a break from IS work to work as inker and colorist for a graphic novel in the children’s literature market. It’s a huge lateral move from his recent work! We’ll give more info on that when it closer to reaching publication.
Nicci has been dabbling in a vast array of projects, from monster and magic item design for Archvillain Games , to a fun system agnostic one shot for The Adventurer’s Guide to Alchemy, and even diving into a crafting an adventure in a brand new (to her!) mechanics system! She’s also now a regular contributor to GM’s Secret Weapon .
Safe to say it has been a huge learning curve but she’s excited to add a few more strings to her bow!
Any day now, Mystic Quill will send out a newsletter with a free pack of five magic items as a thank you to all followers who have stuck around during this long quiet period, but even if you’re just finding us, sign up to our newsletter and grab the items for yourself.
We’re also busy working on more releases, including our first Infinite Archives Travelogue, the antidote to the same old landscapes and settings your players have journeyed through a hundred times before: rich landscapes, ready to be dropped into your campaign. The first will cover a dangerous desert known as the Beetlebore Wastes. It’s a crusted desert of huge fungi, vicious monsters, unique magic items, giant-beetle-centric nomads, and giant beetles capable of being tamed and turned into mounts.
Until then, keep up the fight! We need heroes in and out of the game.
Thank you for reading,We want to call attention to a Really Good Thing going on in the roleplaying community right now that deserves more views than a dragon has scales: Power Word Meal, created by Will from DnD Shorts in conjunction with the UN World Food Programme. He’s leveraging the power of DnD creators and players to raise money to feed people in need worldwide. At the time of this writing, it’s currently raised over 350,000 meals (which is amazing!), and it’s still going. Be a hero, donate by October 6 and receive a free PDF bundle for Pathfinder and 5e (and maybe win a prize from a host of supporting creators and companies). You can see the campaign itself at the official Power Word Meal site, and you can watch Will’s announcement video on Youtube.
Meanwhile, we at Mystic Quill want to take a few moments to mention a few side quests we’ve been involved in.
writers, musicians, and more. David has had the pleasure to be responsible for a fair chunk of that work, in both the art and writing sides. A couple of his favorites so far are shown here: a scabbard mimic and a rimebound kobold warrior. The header features the skeleton of an alligator that hangs in an investigator's office in Infinite Stories's world.
